24th November Newsletter
24 November 2011
Dear Parents, Caregivers, Family and Friends
A highlight of this week was the whole school cultural and sporting visit to Dalefield.
Lead by Matua Bob and Ms Julius the day began with a moving Powhiri. Teachers were proud of our students because of the way they were respectful of the occasion and strong in their singing and dance.
Each school performed musical items, had lunch together and then had ‘fun’ sports’ events.
A1 QUALITY
Monique – excellence in spelling activities.
Monique has worked hard to achieve this goal before she moves to Kuranui College next year!
CONGRATULATIONS to:
William who won a Merit award in the 2011 Fairfax Newspapers in Education National Personal Experience Writing Competition.

STAFFING FOR 2012
After originally coming to teach at St Mary’s for a term, Dale Julius is leaving us after two years to “expand her horizons once again”.
Amber Gray has agreed that she would like to move to Room 3 and teach at ‘the other end of the school’. The position in Room 1 has been advertised and I should have good news about who will teach in there next year before the end of this school year.

30 January – Teacher only day, teachers will be working with St Pats on the Stormbird programme – helping children through a crisis situation.
